All is set for the Center’s 26th TAC Meeting

On July 20, FFTC’s 12-members of its Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) are scheduled to meet online via the Cisco Webex for the 26th TAC Meeting to review the Center’s activities and make the necessary recommendations. Established in 1977 to provide technical assessment and support for the Center’s work programs, the TAC Meeting is held every two years. This year is the third time for the TAC members to meet virtually since the pandemic shook the world in 2020. Prior to this, the TAC members who are made up of scientists and policymakers come from Indonesia, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam fly to Taiwan not only to review FFTC’s performance over the years, but also to discuss and recommend directions which the Center should focus on.

This year’s TAC meeting will have FFTC Director Dr. Su-San Chang deliver a presentation on “Progress Report of FFTC’s 2021-2022 Activities,” while Deputy Director Dr. Tomonari Watanabe will present “FFTC’s Rolling Action Plan for 2023-2024” and report a summary of the TAC members’ comments and the Center’s project proposals for 2023.

Meanwhile, the 12 TAC members will also deliver their own presentations and explain their take on the meeting theme titled “Technical and Behavioral Innovations in Agriculture under Changing Environment.” They are also expected to comment on the presentations made by the FFTC management and make their own recommendations on how the Center could improve the conduct of its programs and projects in the next two years.
