FFTC-JIRCAS MOU signing
The Center recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS). The MOU was signed by FFTC Director Dr. Su-San Chang and JIRCAS President Dr. IWANAGA Masa, who is also a member of FFTC’s Technical Advisory Committee (TAC). The partnership between JIRCAS and FFTC goes a long way. Over the past decade, FFTC has had collaborations with JIRCAS in organizing and holding workshops and seminars on a lot of important agricultural topics and themes. To further strengthen and enhance the partnership, the two organizations renew the ties through a Memorandum of Understanding.
FFTC pays a courtesy call to TARI
The Center management headed by FFTC Director Dr. Su-San Chang and Deputy Director Dr. Akira Hasebe together with Director General Vicent Lin of the COA, paid a courtesy visit to Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute (TARI) and met Director General Dr. Hsueh-Shih Lin. Since the start of the Dragon Fruit workshop series four years ago, FFTC and TARI’s Fengshan Branch in Kaoshiung, has partnered in the conduct of the the yearly workshops. Also for the past three years, both organizations have an ongoing collaboration in the “Proficiency Testing Program of Soil, Plant Tissue and Fertilizer Analysis.” The project has become popular among soil laboratories in the Asian and Pacific Region.
Bio Asia Taiwan 2020
FFTC Director Dr. Su-San Chang, Deputy Director Dr. Akira Hasebe and Information Officer Mr. Ronald Mangubat visit the Bio Asia Taiwan 2020 particularly the Pavilions of the Council of Agriculture (COA) and the Pingtung Agricultural Biotechnology Park (PABP) where the latest research highlights on agricultural technologies and innovations are on exhibit. In the COA Pavilion, for example, research highlights on circular agriculture are on display like the advanced Bonbyx mori silk dressing for chronic wound healing, novel anti-stress feed additive, the elephant grass growth bag wastes for calves and additives, development of sealant for Acacia confusa wood based wine barrel products, tilapia byproducts, product development and application of green bamboo stalks, preservative solution for Vanda orchids, etc.
