I’am Dao The Anh, PhD in Agricultural economics, currently the Vice-President of VAAS in Vietnam. I was close and active partner of FFTC over the last 10 years. I had participated in international workshops organized by FFTC. The first time, in 2011, at FFTC-NACF WS organized in Seoul, I had a paper on "Local Food Systems in Vietnam: Strengths and Opportunities." Secondly, I had a paper presented in the FFTC workshop also in Seoul in 2013 with the title "Vietnam's Agricultural Value Chain in the FTA of Asian Region." I was Director of the Centre for Agrarian System Research and Development (CASRAD) and DDG of Field Crops Research Institute (FCRI) at that time. In 2015 at the FFTC workshop hosted by MARDI Malaysia, I had a paper entitled "Family Farming and Farmland Policy in Vietnam: Current Situation and Perspective." Again in 2016, the FFTC also organized a workshop in MARDI Malaysia, and I had a paper with the title "The IP Protection and Commercialization of Innovative Seed in Vietnam: Situation and Challenge." The latest participation in FFTC workshop was in 2017 in Taipei. The paper title was "A Vietnamese Agricultural Cooperative's Involvement in Food Safety Value Chain: Perspective and Policies." My papers have been published firstly in the Extension Bulletin series and also in its online publication. I feel that the topics of FFTC workshops were very updated for the needs of different countries.
In 2018 and 2019, I have coordinated with Vietnamese partners to contribute to the Agricultural Policy forum, which is published online. We have contributed about 18 articles on Vietnam’s Agricultural policies. This activity is also very useful for member countries on sharing experiences in Agricultural policies. After 2017, I was manager of International cooperation in VAAS and I had organized with FFTC one or two thematic FFTC workshops in Vietnam. We hope that FFTC will continue its very active cooperation with member countries in the future.
