My warmest congratulations and felicitations to the management and staff of FFTC on its 50th anniversary! I am very happy that through the passage of years, the Center remains committed to carry out its mission to help the small-scale farmers in the Asian and Pacific Region achieve a higher quality of life through the provision of timely and relevant information on agricultural technologies.
I have very fond memories of my brief stint in FFTC. It was the time when we were operationalizing the Center’s Strategic Action Plan for 2007-2011 and we focused on topics related to food safety, enhancement of environmentally friendly technologies and sustainable use of natural resources. Most of our activities were anchored along those themes, and I was very lucky to work with a very professional and efficient staff, who remained committed to their work. We all learned a lot about agricultural development as we were traveling to our partner countries and our workshop speakers and participants were just so eager to share their knowledge and experiences with us. I have gained a lot of friends in the process and I am just so thankful to have been part of FFTC’s wonderful history.
I therefore wish the management and staff of FFTC many more happy and productive years. I hope you will continue to do more relevant activities that will truly create an impact on the lives of our small-scale farmers and fisherfolk.
