As an EB member of the FFTC, I would like to extend my sincere congratulations to FFTC for marking its 50th anniversary.
Since FFTC’s establishment in 1970, it has been contributing to the improvement of agricultural productivity and the increase of agricultural income through technical assistance for productivity and useful technical information toward small-sized farmers, and it has become one of the prominent agricultural information exchange centers for the Asian and Pacific Region.
Nowadays, we see that the global warming and the increase of heavy rains have a great influence on small-sized farmers. At the same time, the increase in population and these natural disasters also caused the increase in famine population among the world. In order to pursue sustainable development of the agriculture sector, I believe that FFTC has a greater role in attacking how to cope with natural disasters and how to develop productivity worldwide.
As one of the member countries of FFTC, Japan has cooperated closely with FFTC by co-hosting workshops and seminars with related Japanese organizations, dispatching of experts to FFTC to share knowledge with, and so on. We would like to continue to work closely with FFTC, and would like to support its activities.
I offer my best wishes for the further success of FFTC.
