Mr. Ki-Hoon Chin (R), former deputy representative of Korean Mission in Taipei exchanges gifts with FFTC Director Yu-Tsai Huang during farewell party in his honor. Mr. Chin left Taiwan last August to begin his new post as the Korean Ambassador to Afghanistan.
FFTC consultant Dr. George Kuo delivers a presentation on the FFTC project entitled “Establishment of Database for Tropical Fruit Sector Development in Southeast Asia” to officers and staff of the Taiwan Seed Improvement and Propagation Station in Taichung, Taiwan. Dr. Kuo heads the FFTC project on tropical fruit and has worked with top horticulture experts in the region.
FFTC Director Yu-Tsai Huang welcomes Dr. Bernadette Arellano (middle), the founding chair of Moringaling Philippines Foundation, Inc., an advocate for Moringa as a power crop for production in the Philippines. Dr. Arellano visited Taiwan for an exploratory and educational tour of the country’s agricultural technologies. With her is Ms. Catrina Naguiat, Programs and Development Cooperation officer of the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO).
Director Dr. Yu-Tsai Huang delivers a lecture at the Department of Agricultural Economics, Seoul National University in South Korea. Upon the invitation of the university officials, Director Huang’s speech is entitled “Taiwan Agriculture and its Challenges.” It focuses on the growth of Taiwan’s agriculture from its successful land reform program in the `70s, to a highly mechanized and modern type of agriculture in the new millennium.
