On January 10, Director Dr. Su-San Chang and Deputy Director Dr. Tomonari Watanabe paid a courtesy visit to Mr. Vu Tien Dung, the new Representative of the Vietnam Economic and Cultural Office (VECO) in Taipei who is also the new FFTC Executive Board member. Representative Mr. Vu assumed his duties last December. Director Dr. Chang briefed him about the Center’s business and presented the Center’s current project collaborations with Vietnamese partner institutions, including the Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences (VAAS) and the Southern Horticultural Research Institute (SOFRI).
Mr. Vu appreciated FFTC's contributions to promote international agricultural collaborations in the Asian and Pacific region, in which Vietnam also benefits from those collaborations and partnerships. The two leaders also exchanged thoughts about current agricultural issues, such as carbon-neutral agriculture, climate change, cross-border plant pests and diseases, smart agriculture and agricultural commodity value chains and marketing.
Mr. Vu said VECO promises its continuous support to FFTC.
