Center visits Korean Mission in Taipei

On September 23, 2021, FFTC Director Dr. Su-San Chang, Deputy Director Dr. Tomonari Watanabe and Agricultural Economist Mr. Kyong Woo Lee paid a courtesy call to the Representative Office of the Korean Mission in Taipei. The delegation was received by Deputy Representative of the Mission Mr. Soon-Chang Hong (FFTC Executive Board member) and Chief of the Economic Department Ms. Jung Sook Yang (FFTC Working Group member). The purpose of this courtesy call is to personally invite the Center’s EB member Mr. Hong and Working Group member Ms. Yang to attend the upcoming 50th Anniversary and Symposium of FFTC which will be held virtually on October 6.

Director Chang also briefed the Korean officers about this year's project updates. Due to the pandemic, all of the Center’s activities have been switched to virtual events. The two parties also exchanged some thoughts about the importance of the food supply chain and food security as it relates to agricultural development during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. Smart Agriculture is also one topic that they discussed, which is an important issue in the current agricultural environment.
