11 of the 12 members of FFTC’s Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) recently attended the virtual mid-term TAC Meeting. Chaired by Dr. Reynaldo V. Ebora, Executive Director of the Philippines’ DOST-PCAARRD, the said meeting, which lasted for almost two hours, became the venue for the FFTC management to inform the TAC members about the Center’s project updates. It also served as a chance for FFTC Director Dr. Su-San Chang, to introduce the new TAC members and the new FFTC staff to each other, albeit virtually. Discussion centered mostly on how the Center is operating under the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the TAC members’ advice and recommendations on how to smoothen the preparations on holding of FFTC’s online workshops and videoconferences. The FFTC-TAC comprises of 12 distinguished agricultural scientists and officers from 8 countries (Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and Taiwan) and serves to provide advice to the Center. Traditionally, it meets once every two years, but for this year, the FFTC management held a virtual mid-term TAC meeting to present more updates on the Center’s current projects and activities.
