The Food and Fertilizer Technology Center (FFTC) for the Asian and Pacific Region, Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences (VAAS), Centre for Agriculture and Biosciences International – South East Asia (CABI-SEA), and Taiwan Banana Research Institute (TBRI) are collaborating in organizing the International Webinar on “Fostering Sustainable Management of Banana Diseases in Asia,” which will be held on July 22, 2021. In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the symposium will be held online via WebEx videoconference system for all speakers and participants.
FFTC has invited Dr. Miguel Angel Dita Rodriguez, the Scientist of the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT, Colombia and Dr. Chih-Ping Chao, the Adviser and Former Director of Taiwan Banana Research Institute and Committee Member of Banana Asia Pacific Network to be the keynote speakers. Besides the keynote session, this workshop has three other sessions with the following themes: 1) The status of banana disease problems in Asia (Country Report); 2) Management/control of the most destructive diseases of banana (Fusarium wilt, Black sigatoka, Yellow sigatoka, Bunch top virus, Crown Rot); and 3) Innovative technologies on production of healthy seedlings/pathogen-free seedlings and post-replanted management in banana production.
We are cordially inviting students, policy makers, scientists, researchers, agriculturists, plant pathologists, and entomologists to join us in this webinar. To follow Taiwan government's epidemic prevention regulation according to the COVID-19 pandemic situation, the overall plan is continuously being adjusted. For more information about this event, please check the webinar webpage, or follow us on our FFTC Facebook fans page and our official website.
